Individuals seeking “trained person” status under O. Reg. 170/03 are required to successfully complete this course. The information in this course covers basic concepts and common techniques related to the operation and maintenance of small drinking water systems in Ontario.
Objectives: Review drinking water regulations; Discuss sources of pollution and examine the chemical characteristics of drinking water; Identify well and surface water equipment considerations; Review general requirements and troubleshooting techniques for water treatment and disinfection equipment; Discuss sampling requirements and operation checks; Cover how to respond to adverse test results and observations, including reporting and corrective actions; Identify safety considerations for small drinking water system operations.
